  1. PERSONA 

Persona 1

Shree is a 20 year old urban resident from Petaling Jaya, Selangor. She might get easily frustrated or demotivated if the system is unclear and values simplicity. She has a fair technical skills and decent level of awareness about the importance of properly segregating electronic devices. However, she prefers a straightforward process to be consistent in taking the action.  

Her family and herself use gadgets like laptop, smartphone, printer and has a few unused old devices at home. As she is living in an apartment with her family, she has limited space to store those unused devices. As she is unclear of how to properly dispose electronic devices and unaware of the nearby collection points, the electronic junks left unattended and takes up spaces. She wants a reliable e-waste collection system with simple process that fits easily into her hectic city lifestyle.  

Persona 2 

Meet Amir, a 22-year-old environmental science student at a local university, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) who is passionate about sustainable living and tackling the growing e-waste crisis. He realize how many households and his friends that stayed in the same college struggle to dispose of large or multiple electronic items. Amir volunteers with a campus initiative that schedules home pickups for e-waste, ensuring devices are collected safely and sent to certified recycling centers. He educates his community on the environmental impact of improper disposal and encourages peers to think twice before tossing old electronics. Balancing classes, activism, and outreach, Amir is determined to make responsible e-waste management accessible and convenient for everyone.

Persona 3

Evelyn Ang is 24 years old and works as a supervisor at Play Gadget Store in Taman Universiti. She has medium technical skills, and her store specializes in selling mobile phones, accessories and basic electronic devices. Evelyn manages both the physical store and her online sales channels on platform like Facebook. On daily basis, she handles customer services, stock management and units. As a small business owner, Evelyn is looking for efficient way to manage her electronic waste without needing to shut down operations or make long trips to recycling centres because usually she piles up the old electronic devices around her house which is not environmentally friendly. She is interested in solutions that are convenient and possibly offer small cash for recyclable items. Evelyn wants to maintain a clean, organized business environment while contributing to responsible e-waste disposal. She is likely to share the service with their business circle or followers online

  1. SCENARIO 
  1. Find Nearest Certified E-Waste Drop Off Centre (Persona 1) 

Shree is a 25 year old urban resident who lives in an apartment in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. In Shree’s house, there area lot of electronic devices that are unused that has to be cleared up for her hourse to be more spacious. However, she is unaware of the methods and collection points available. So, she searched up for nearest electronic waste drop off centre and found out ERTH services. She skims through the “Services We Offer” to get an idea what ERTH offers for their customers. Then, she reads through read through the “How to Recycle” to understand collection methods. She return to “Services We Offer” and reads that section in detail. She clickes a link that directs to a page that contains all ERTH drop off centre locations. Then, she navigate to her residential location on the map by zooming in. She searches for an icon that indicates Collection Centre from the legend on the left panel. Finally, she locates and finds the nearest Collection Centre icon on the map. Although it took a bit of time to locate, she eventually found the nearest Collection Centre icon on the map.Now relieved, Shree successfully identified a convenient location to drop off her unused electronics for proper recycling.

  1. Schedule Home Pickups for Multiple E-Waste Items (Persona 2) 

Amir Hakim is a 22-year-old Environmental Science student at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) who is deeply committed to sustainability and environmental activism. Passionate about solving the growing e-waste problem, he noticed that many of his friends and fellow students struggle to dispose of large or multiple electronic items properly. To address this, Amir volunteers with a campus-based e-waste initiative that helps schedule home pickups, ensuring that electronic waste is collected safely and sent to certified recycling centers. He found one website that provide solutions for e-waste issues which is ERTH.

Amir navigates that online recycling platform by scrolling through the interface, locating the recycle button, and filling out personal details such as his WhatsApp number, full name, address, and email. He selects the free doorstep collection option and carefully inputs the types and quantities of devices to be recycled before submitting the request. Amir’s goal is to make responsible e-waste disposal more accessible and convenient, especially for students and residents around UTM. Despite his busy academic schedule, he dedicates time to educate others about the environmental dangers of improper e-waste handling, working tirelessly to create informed community.

  1. Redeem Cash Rewards and Voucher (Persona 3) 

Evelyn Ang is a 24-year-old small business owner who runs a gadget store in Taman Universiti, has a problem which is her storeroom is filled with old electronic gadgets, broken demo units, tangled chargers and unused cables. She wants to clear them out but doesn’t know where to send them. One evening, she searches online for e-waste pickup services and finds the ERTH website. She decides to give it a try. She visits the website and schedule an e-waste pickup by filling in the form. She read that she will get cash rewards and voucher after donated so she decides to ask for details. She encounters some confusion, the description is not clear and uncertain when and where she will received the rewards. She contacts the company through WhatsApp to ask about it. She is hoping that the process to know about the rewards could be improved with clearer guidance and does not take a long process.
